FUE : Recovery, Downtime & Activity Guidelines
A structured, phased approach to post-procedure healing.
The 4th Generation FUE Differences
The 4th generation Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique represents a refinement of the hair restoration process. It utilizes a precision-engineered, small-diameter punch to extract individual follicular units, minimizing trauma to the surrounding scalp. This is paired with a no-touch insertion method that carefully places each graft, reducing manipulation and promoting optimal healing.
Patient Benefits:
- Minimized Wound & Bleeding: The smaller, more precise punch creates less surface trauma compared to older extraction methods.
- Faster, Smoother Recovery: Most patients experience a quick and uneventful recovery period, returning to their daily routines without significant discomfort.

Return to Work by Job Type
- Office or remote: Day 2–3. Loose hat permitted immediately.
- Public or client-facing: 4–5 days recommended for cosmetic healing.
- Manual labor or helmets: 7–10 days minimum. Avoid dust, sweat, and pressure.
Phased Exercise Protocol
- Week 1: No exercise. Light walking only.
- Week 2: Light walking, stretching, stationary cycling. Avoid sweating.
- Week 3: Light jogging, elliptical, light resistance. Avoid neck and scalp strain.
- Week 4 and beyond: Gradual return to full routine. Shower immediately after exercise.
- Sweat Management: Rinse scalp with cool water immediately after perspiration.
Swimming & Heat Restrictions
- Weeks 1–3: No head submersion. No sauna or steam room.
- Week 4: Chlorinated pools permitted if healing is complete. Rinse immediately.
- Week 5 and beyond: Oceans or lakes with swim cap. Higher bacterial risk present.
- Sauna or steam room: Wait 3–4 months due to heat-induced vasodilation.
- Sun Protection: Avoid direct harsh UV exposure on grafted areas for 1-3 months.
Essential Care Principles After FUE
- Sun protection: Loose hat for 1-3 months when exposed to harsh sunlight.
- Sweat management: Rinse scalp with cool water after sweating.
- Gentle cleansing: Use provided shampoo and formulated oil for scabs if present.
- Follow-up appointments: Day 1, Day 7, and Week 5 are part of standard protocol.
